Loyiso Mpuntsha - Healthcare - South African National Blood Service
Loyiso is the Chief Executive Officer of South African National Blood Service an organization that strives to provide safe blood products and blood related services to all patients in a cost efficient manner. SANBS was established through a merger of 6 independent companies in the year 2000, to become a national organization covering 8 of the 9 provinces of South Africa and employing 2200 employees.
Loyiso began her career in healthcare after 10 years of working as a Medical Doctor. She realized then that broader policy issues needed to be addressed and thus moved on to working with the Medical Association and then the National Department of Health before heading the SANBS.
Her success is credited to Loyiso's consistent focus on the values and mandate of the organization in the interest of serving the country's health service needs for blood products and related medical services. Over the past 5 years of being at the helm of SANBS, Loyiso has managed to advance transformation across the leadership, management and stakeholder profile of the SANBS in alignment to the population demographics and democratic values of South Africa.
In the next 5 years Loyiso hopes to remain involved in a leadership capacity on issues affecting the country and broader society while contributing to a number of developmental initiatives, most probably in the social services sector.
She holds a degree in Medical Advancement Management and a Master’s Degree in Quality Value. Loyiso is affiliated with the Medical Association of South Africa, the International Society of Blood Transfusion and Health Professionals of South Africa.
In her free time, Loyiso enjoys traveling, spending time with family and hosting occasions for family and friends.
